Midwest Eye Center (MWEC) proudly recognizes Dr. Emilie Seitz, OD, FAAO as the recipient of the 2026 Women in Optometry Young OD Theia Award.

The annual Theia Awards celebrate women making significant contributions to the optometric profession. Now in their 11th year, the awards recognize achievement across several areas of optometry, with more than 100 nominations submitted for the 2026 class.

Dr. Seitz specializes in managing complex ocular diseases, including glaucoma, dry eye disease, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration.

In addition to caring for patients at MidWest Eye Center, she is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and serves on its Anterior Segment Section Committee. Dr. Seitz will serve as the Zone 8 (Cincinnati) Governor for the Ohio Optometric Association in the upcoming year. She also works closely with industry partners and has delivered more than 20 lectures and interviews and authored more than 25 publications.

The Young OD Theia Award recognizes Dr. Seitz’s growing impact on optometry through patient care, professional education, and her continued involvement in the advancement of the field.

Women in Optometry is a professional community focused on elevating women in eye care through education, professional resources, events and opportunities to share their expertise and experiences.
